Japanese firm Yusen Logistics plans to start cargo terminal and charter operations at Ezhou Huahu Airport in China next year.

The initiative follows the establishment in 2021 0f a joint venture (JV) between Yusen Logistics China (YLCN) and Hubei Dadaozhongcai Import and Export Service, said the Tokyo-headquartered company.

As part of  the ‘Ezhou Yusen Dadao Zhongcai Logistics’ (EYDL) JV, cargo terminal operations and a cargo charter service are due to begin at the recently established Ezhou Huahu Airport in May 2025.

On March 24, a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the cargo terminal was held.

Ezhou Huahu Airport first started operating in July 2022, and the airport began inaugural international operations almost a year ago.

The airport, in central China’s Hubei Province, is the first professional cargo hub airport in Asia.

Logistics service provider SF Express holds a 46% stake in Hubei International Logistics Airport Co., Ltd., the operator of Ezhou Huahu Airport.

Yusen Logistics offers international sea and airfreight forwarding, contract logistics, including warehousing, supply chain solutions and ground transportation.
