Athens celebrates air cargo uptick

ATHENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT has witnessed a modest improvement in cargo traffic, which climbed 3.21 per cent to 24,723 tonnes during the first quarter of this year. 
The city airport is currently inviting tenders for its ground handling services, including freight and mail, baggage, aircraft fuelling and ramp services – for the third time to since it opened in 2001, in a bid to improve facilities, says a statement. 
It also celebrated operating its first e-AWB shipment from Athens to Dubai with Emirates SkyCargo.
