China to invest billions in aviation

China is to invest 77 billion yuan ($11.9 billion) in aviation infrastructure this year, according to reports by the official Xinhua news agency.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said the investment would focus initially at 11 new airport construction projects along with 52 upgrades to existing facilities.
Part of the spending would go towards opening up low-altitude air space to small airport and helicopters, helping to boost the underdeveloped general aviation sector.
China’s airspace is still controlled by the military whose planes have priority over civil aircraft.
