Frankfurt cargo falls away

Cargo throughput at Frankfurt airport softened 1.3% to 177,536 tonnes (freight and mail) in May 2016 compared with the same month in 2015, said operator Fraport.
It follows a strong showing in April, when cargo surged 5.5%, the first monthly growth in the current business year.
On a year to date basis, at 865,918 tonnes, cargo was up 0.2% compared with the first five months of 2015.
Passenger traffic in May declined by 5.5%, affected by terror attacks in Europe, public holidays and weather-related flight cancellations.
