Frankfurt thinks electric

German airport operator Fraport has added as a prototype container transport vehicle to its fleet of electric-powered vehicles.  The new Mulag vehicle has twin 80-volt lead-acid batteries powering two electric motors, giving a capacity of seven tons and a top speed of 25 kilometers per hour. Early experience suggests that it can save 80% of the energy compared with a diesel powered vehicle – reducing emissions as well as saving money.
