Miami reports record cargo volumes in 2018

Miami International Airport (MIA) handled record volumes of cargo last year on the back of new freighter services.
The Florida airport saw cargo volumes increase by 60,000 tons to 2.3m tons last year as three new cargo carriers launched operations last year.
Southern Air began weekly all-cargo service to Hong Kong in April; Ethiopian Airlines launched two weekly freighter flights to the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa in August, creating the first-ever cargo-only route between the African continent and MIA; and Amazon Air launched double-daily freighter service in October to destinations across the US.
