UK sniffer dog certificates to be withdrawn
02 / 03 / 2015
THE UK certification for sniffer dogs used to detect explosives is to be withdrawn.
A Department for Transport spokesperson said: “UK aviation security measures
are among the most robust in the world and are kept under constant review. We
do not comment on specific security matters.”
Sniffer dogs, or explosive detection dogs (EDD), are used as part of the Remote Explosive Scent Tracing (REST) analysis.
An advisory from the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority to regulated agents and cargo airlines outlines the approved screening methods that remain available to the airfreight community.
