GEODIS has started the official operation of its new 5,500 sq m Schiphol-Rijk temperature-controlled facility for the pharma and healthcare sectors.
The new location at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is next to the global logistics provider’s existing site and will expand its footprint in pharma and healthcare.
GEODIS’ pharma and healthcare capability is already established at its Venlo site in the Netherlands, close to the German border, with a presence in contract logistics for customers in both sectors.
The Schiphol-Rijk investment will focus on freight forwarding and be part of GEODIS’ worldwide cross docking network for ambient and cold chain products.
The new location is A-rated by the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) for airfreight and holds IATA’s CEIV Pharma certification for handling goods between the 15-25°C and 2-8°C temperature ranges.
Said Mark van den Assem, managing director of GEODIS Benelux: “Opening an additional specialised warehouse at Schiphol-Rijk enables us to offer customers a turnkey solution for pharma & healthcare logistics.
“Increasing the synergy between our contract logistics and freight forwarding lines of business is a crucial part of our growth strategy and will have significant benefits to the supply chain needs of our customers.”
