Kersten to be new FIATA head

The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) has appointed Hans Kersten as deputy director and director general designate after the retirement of Marco Sorgetti in September.
Kersten, who was previously International Union of Railways (UIC) freight director is a qualified lawyer and speaks five European languages.
He  worked for German Railways in various senior management positions for 18 years before being seconded to the UIC in Paris.
Marco Sorgetti, welcoming his new deputy director, said: “I am sure a person with your professional background will add another layer of accomplishments in the long list of extraordinary achievements of this association. I am delighted we shall have some time to ensure that the passing of the baton happens in the most efficient and professional manner.”
