SEKO Logistics wins environmental approval

SEKO Logistics has received approval for its latest data update with the SmartWay Transportation Partnership.
The Partnership, a collaboration between the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry,  provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods moving in supply chains.
SEKO chief operating officer US Rick Lee said: “By participating in SmartWay, we now have analytics and reports to better manage our carrier relationships, allowing us to focus more on the carriers that are investing in their future with more modern and fuel efficient fleets.
"The programme has expanded and evolved to a level of sophistication that is producing measurable results for the industry as a whole.
"As a 3PL we look forward to partnering with carriers that are modernising their fleets and to formalising our carrier and partner selection process to include more precise metrics as to fuel efficiency and reduced emissions."
As a SmartWay Partner, SEKO will continue to contribute to the Partnership’s savings of 144.3 million barrels of oil, $20.6 billion in fuel costs, 61.7 MMT of carbon dioxide (CO2), 1,070,000 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 43,000 tons of particulate matter, the equivalent of taking 13 million cars off the road.
The Partnership currently has over 3,000 Partners including shippers, logistics companies, truck, rail, barge, and multimodal carriers.
