Rhenus opens sustainably-powered warehouse in Gurugram

Rhenus Logistics has opened a new warehouse in Gurugram, India, to support its logistics operations in Asia and Asia-Pacific.

The 32,500 sq m facility, which is the company’s 69th in India, features rooftop solar panels for sustainable power and water recycling technologies. It also has 30,000 pallet spaces, 19 loading gates and 24-hour security protection.

The warehouse’s location in Gurugram has connections to the Jaipur Highway, the Kundli-Nabesar-Palwal Expressway and the Delhi-Mumbai Corridor to Delhi and other parts of Northern India.

Rhenus said the facility will serve customers from a range of sectors including consumer, industrial goods, automotive, chemical, and mechanical and engineering.

“India is one of our key markets for our growth plans for the Asia-Pacific region,” said Jan Harnisch, global chief operating officer at Rhenus Air & Ocean. “Our high quality standards and decades of experience enable us to provide professional support to customers along the entire logistics chain.”

Vivek Arya, managing director of Rhenus Logistics India, added: “Our flagship warehouse is raising the bar even higher in terms of quality, sustainability and safety.

“It is our goal, as a service provider, to be the first choice for integrated logistics solutions and scalable storage across India. Well-trained staff, standardised systems and modern processes are our advantage.”

In June, Rhenus also opened a new office at Liège Airport.

“A large number of large airline and charter companies such as Qatar Airways, AirBridgeCargo and Ethiopian Airlines use Liège as a European hub and connect the location with numerous regions worldwide,” the forwarder said at the time.

The company added that the airport is strategically located in the ‘golden triangle’ between Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris.

At the new Liège branch, Rhenus Air & Ocean offers multimodal solutions to expand Rhenus’ global airfreight network.
