DHL extends Airfreight Plus network to Russian cities

A switch in customer demand from overnight deliveries will see DHL Global Forwarding integrate Moscow and Russia’s other major cities into its alternative Airfreight Plus network.
Ingo-Alexander Rahn, global head of airfreight, DHL Global Forwarding, said: “We have noticed a switch from overnight demand to more economical distribution solutions, and thus an increasing demand for our DHL Airfreight Plus product.”
DHL’s Airfreight Plus service provides intra-European or intra-Asian door-to-door air transportation for cargo up to two tons.
Added Rahn: “By offering scheduled deliveries and a choice of transit times and various service benefits at a simple all-inclusive rate for end-to-end shipping, we meet our customer’s needs for cost effective transport options, while growing our airfreight business and footprint in Europe and Asia.”
Businesses using Airfreight Plus have access to more than 11,000 daily departures across Europe and Asia carried out by DHL’s owned fleet as well as commercial carriers.
Customers can choose between three day-definite transit times: Within Europe, they can select from Priority (1-2 days), Classic (2-3 days) and Deferred (2-5 days) services. In Asia Pacific, customers select from Classic or Deferred.
Said DHL: “So far, customers can pick between 31 European and 22 Asian destinations. Integration of Moscow and Russia’s major cities to the network will complete by mid-year 2016 with further expansion into Commonwealth of Independent States by end of year.”
