FedEx ships 60 thoroughbred horses to China

INTEGRATOR FedEx Express has successfully transported 60 horses from Liège, Belgium, to a major show jumping event in Shanghai.
Grooms and vets accompanied the thoroughbreds, which were transported in specially-designed stalls to ensure maximum comfort during their journey on two MD-11 freighters.
In-flight temperatures were kept at between 15-25 degrees Celsius, says a company statement.
The horses, which took part in the prestigious Longines Global Championship Tour 2014, are the latest in a long line of FedEx animals and other sensitive shipments.
Other recent charters include moving a 65 million-year-old Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil from the Museum of the Rockies in Montana to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, as well as pandas, dolphins, penguins, sea otters, polar bears, white tigers, cougar cubs, elephants, lions, gorillas, bald eagles, a rhinoceros and even a 13-foot tiger shark, used in filming the Steven Spielberg movie series Jaws.
