AIA scoops several airline deals as Q1 cargo revenues improve

General sales and service agent (GSSA) AIA Cargo has won new deals with five airlines, while revenues and tonnages increased during the first quarter of 2018.
The GSSA announced today that it had won contracts to provide Air Arabia Maroc, Air Baltic, Imperial Cargo Airlines, EL AL and United Airlines with services in "a number of countries".
The company, which has 45 offices across six continents, said that further contract wins would be announced soon, covering the Americas, Asia and Africa.
Meanwhile, the company said that the first three months of the year saw cargo tonnages increase by 16% year on year and revenues improved by 19%, with improvements led by Asia and Australasia where clients had been adding new routes and larger aircraft.
On top of the new wins, existing client Cobalt Air has seen significant growth in its network having started daily services Larnaca to Heathrow and also new destinations Abu Dhabi, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf and Geneva.
Meanwhile, China Southern has announced a new direct service to Wuhan starting on the May 30 with a three-times-per week A330 service.
"We are also expanding our product and offer in the market with investment in dedicated new business units and revenue lanes including E-Commerce, Pharma, AVI and high yield traffic so that we optimise our load factors and monthly revenue contribution to the benefit of our airline partner," the company added.
