IAG Cargo looks to automotive for new Nashville operation

IAG Cargo will begin offering services to and from Nashville, Tennessee, from May next year as it looks to capitalise on the city’s automotive sector.
The new passenger service will fly five-times-a-week between the US hub and Heathrow in the UK utilising a Boeing 747-8, which offers a payload of 15 tonnes per flight.
The introduction of the new services brings the total number of US gateways to 24.
IAG Cargo commercial director David Shepherd said: “While we have an excellent number of entry points into the US, particularly on the east and west coasts, Nashville is an important addition for our customers based in the south east of the country.
"Tennessee has a burgeoning automotive industry and we anticipate that this new capacity will be welcomed by businesses looking to move spare auto parts into Europe and beyond.”
The 2018 summer schedule will also see IAG Cargo increase its daily services to Philadelphia and Phoenix to ten flights per week, representing a 34% and 43% increase in capacity respectively.
