Nippon Cargo cancels order for two 747-8 freighters

Nippon Cargo Airlines has cancelled an order for two Boeing 747-8 freighter aircraft following an agreement with the US manufacturer, according to press reports. The two aircraft were the last of a ten-strong order, of which eight have already been delivered.
The Japanese all-cargo carrier has recently launched a review of its aircraft fleet so it could "flexibly respond to fluctuation in the global air cargo market," it said in a filing in a filing with the Tokyo and Nagoya stock exchanges.
Neither NCA nor Boeing disclosed further details of the cancellation.
The future of 747 freighter production has been in doubt for some time, despite an order by UPS last year for 14 aircraft.
