Saudia Cargo boosts Shanghai

SAUDI Airlines Cargo has upgraded its Shanghai service to a B747-8 freighter.
The airline now operates three weekly B747-8F flights from Shanghai directly to Europe and on to Saudi Arabia (KSA), connecting customers to the entire Saudia Cargo Network.
“We are are able to operate our B747-8F aircraft in the Shanghai market after obtaining the required permits,” says Peter Scholten, vice-president, commercial at Saudia Cargo.
“This is the beginning of our further expansion into the Greater Chinese market, where we already operate two weekly B747-400Fs to Guangzhou and eight weekly B747s (both -400s and -800s) in Hong Kong,” he adds.
The move follows growing demand for greater capacity ex-China and is expected to fulfill current market requirements, says the carrier.
“We had previously made a commitment to our clients in China that we would offer them additional capacity and shorter transit times to KSA and onwards to our network flights,” comments Vikram Vohra, regional director for the Far East at Saudia Cargo.
“By offering our Shanghai clients our latest B747-8F we have lived up to our commitment. The response so far has been very encouraging,” he concludes.
