Etihad’s Fordree moves to Menzies

Robert Fordree has rejoined Menzies Aviation as vice president-cargo development, to oversee the development and growth of the company’s cargo handling business.
The 27 year aviation industry veteran joins from Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi, where he transferred to in 2011 to take responsibility for the global cargo network as well as the hub operations at the Middle East carrier, overseeing Etihad Cargo’s operational expansion and development during a period of phenomenal growth.
Fordree’s  departure from Etihad Airways comes as the carrier’s cargo boss, David Kerr, was named as the new chief executive of CargoLogicAir (CLA), the UK-registered freighter airline, with effect from January 2018.
Fordree began his career with Lufthansa Cargo before first joining Menzies Aviation, where he spent 10 years in a range of commercial roles.
He then joined Etihad in 2008 where he was responsible for operations in Europe and the US before moving to Abu Dhabi in 2011.
Fordree said: “I am delighted to start what I believe to be a really exciting new challenge with Menzies Aviation.
“There are some great opportunities to ensure we deliver operational excellence across the network and help grow and develop cargo operations.”
Jamie Ross, senior vice president–sales & commercial, said: “Robert is very highly-regarded in the cargo sector, and I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to add someone of his expertise to our senior commercial team.
“He will be a central figure in our drive to grow the Menzies Aviation Cargo business.”
