Frankfurt handlers introduce mandatory truck booking to reduce congestion

Frankfurt cargo handlers Frankfurt Cargo Services (FCS) and LUG aircargo handling will require all trucks to book a slot before arriving at their respective facilities at the German cargo hub from May 15.
The handlers will require all slots for loading and unloading to be booked online via the Dakosy Fair@Link system.
Drivers arriving without a slot will need to book at the freight acceptance or delivery office but it is likely there will be a wait until space becomes available.
It is hoped the system will help avoid waiting times, improve transparency and enhance scheduling of your trucks, avoiding the congestion truckers faced at the airport during last year’s peak season.
"Slot booking is simple and takes only a few minutes. The trucker/forwarder only needs to fill out a transport pre announcement (TPA) and send it to the Door Management System (RSS)," Dakosy said.
"Within a short time they will receive the appointment confirmation or a suggested alternative appointment time from the ground handler."
