DB Schenker opens new Dubai World Central logistics facility

DB Schenker has opened a new facility in Dubai Logistics City (DLC) freezone, located close to Dubai World Central Airport.
The German logistics company’s new logistics building measures 7,200 sq m and is first part of a three phase plan to open facilities with a footprint of 25,000 sq m at DLC.
The facility has two mezzanine levels dedicated to value-added services and spare parts operations and contains temperature controlled and ambient zones.

DB Schenker said its location close to the airport was a major factor in deciding to build the new facility.
DB Schenker Middle East and Africa regional head of contract logistics and supply chain management Ako Djaf said: “Dubai is our main hub in the region, and investing in the DLC was a strategical step to strengthen our network and to complete the DB Schenker service coverage in UAE.
“Being located only a few meters away from the runways of Al Maktoum airport and Emirates Road and only 15 minutes away from the seaport enables us to offer first class integrated transportation and warehousing solutions for our global customers.
“It is about speed, connectivity and getting the goods on time to end users. That is where by partnering with global players like DB Schenker we can make a difference and make this place a truly ecosystem and one of the key hubs of the global trade,” said Mohsen Ahmad, vice president logistics, Dubai South.
DLC will have a capacity of 12m tons of air cargo by 2023 and incorporates more than 25sq km of free-zone space.
