Istanbul New Airport goes live on October 31

Istanbul New Airport has confirmed that the new Turkish gateway will open for passenger flights on 31 October, with the existing main city gateway, Atatürk closing on the same day.
Istanbul New Airport said that an official opening ceremony would take place on October 29, the 95th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, attended by parliamentary speaker Binali Yıldırım and other state officials.
This would be followed, on 31 October, by the first passenger flight by flag carrier Turkish Airlines to Ankaraat 2pm said chairman İlker Ayci. The first overseas flights will be to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan.
During the previous two days Turkish Airlines alone will deploy 800 trucks to transfer all its equipment and facilities from Atatürk in an operation expected to take about 45 hours.
Familiarisation training for airline employees, ground services and other companies will start on September 28 in an operation that will cover 28,200 people.
The new airport has already taken delivery of its first aircraft fuel consignment by ship at its new Fuel Supply Port, one of the few such facilities in the world.
The operation is expected to take the place of about 2,250 road trucks.
