1.45m tonne debut year for Hong Kong terminal

Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal (CPCT) handled 1.45m tonnes of cargo in 2014, its first full year, with transshipment traffic the main driver at 54 per cent of volume throughput.
Import and export cargo tonnage throughput were 15 per cent and 31 per cent, respectively, said parent company Cathay Pacific Services Ltd (CPSL).
CPSL chief executive Kelvin Ko said: “With concerted efforts by our dedicated team, we were able to achieve the highest level of service performance that we promised our customers from the beginning.”
At CPCT, consignees can collect inbound cargo after its arrival within three hours for passenger flights and five hours for freighters.
Transshipment handling at CPCT sees cargo transfers within five hours, or three hours with prior arrangement. CPSL has also started providing ramp handling service for freighters since July 2014.
“We are glad that customers recognise our value and choose us as their handling agent. We will continue to put our customers first by offering customised services to support their growth plans in the region,” Ko added.
CPSL currently serves seven customer airlines: AirAsia, Air Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Airways, Dragonair, EVA Airways Corporation, Royal Brunei Airlines and Thai AirAsia. 
CPSL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways, was awarded a 20-year franchise by the Airport Authority Hong Kong in March 2008, to design, build and operate a new common air cargo terminal at the Hong Kong International Airport.
