DB Schenker masterminds horses charter to Belgium

IN CLOSE cooperation with Qatar Airways Cargo, Overseas Horse Services (OHS) and Liége Airport, DB Schenker made sure that 53 showjumping horses traveled safely non-stop aboard a B777 freighter from Calgary in Canada to Belgium.
The aircraft also carried eleven tonnes of equipment, nine animal care staff and three dogs.
The horses are taking part in the World Equestrian Games (WEG) from 23 August to 7 September 2014 in Normandy, France.
The horses were loaded in 22 double-stable and three triple-stable containers.
Load planning and stabling was coordinated and watched over by DB Schenker experts as the equipment was installed on 10 lower-deck pallets.
DB Schenker’s subsidiary Karpeles Freight Services was responsible for the ad hoc charter.
