DHL launches SameDay Speedline for urgent airfreight shipping

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight forwarding operation within Deutsche Post DHL Group, has launched a new urgent shipping offering: DHL SameDay Speedline.
Every unaccompanied shipment will be “proactively monitored from origin to destination” (at SameDay Contact Centers in the US, Singapore and Ireland), while other benefits will include 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year pick-up and delivery, as well as quotations given within 60 minutes and collection within 120 minutes.
As a global solution, SameDay Speedline is expected by DHL to be the service of choice for the urgent delivery of spare parts, critical medical supplies and newly launched products.
It is expected to be especially attractive to those active in the aerospace and aviation, automotive, electronics, energy and life sciences industries.
“The emergency shipment market is growing with just-in-time inventories for industries from aerospace and energy to manufacturing,” remarked Ingo-Alexander Rahn, global head of air freight at DHL Global Forwarding.
“The need for mission critical shipment delivery to avoid line down situations continues to arise and requires a partner that has the global reach combined with the technology to provide transparency to each sector-specific logistical challenge,” he continued.
“DHL SameDay Speedline fills this gap and provides added value through its many service features.”
SameDay Speedline will initially be available at 50+ stations, with DHL saying that “the network will grow through customer demand”.
Dedicated DHL customer service representatives will be available to handle the majority of quotes and routeing option for door-to-door shipments in less than 60 minutes, the integrator promises.
Furthermore, customers of SameDay Speedline will receive “customised milestone updates of their shipment’s movement”.
DHL Global Forwarding confirmed that the decision to launch SameDay Speedline was taken after surveying more than 200 customers sectors with emergency shipping needs from various industries.
There was an obvious need, DHL identified, to develop a product that leveraged DHL relationships in-country with the “emergency product technology and intelligence of the DHL SameDay team”.
“Our customers will choose DHL SameDay Speedline for the best flight options to meet just-in-time demand at an optimal cost-performance ratio,” Rahn concluded.
