K+N achieves new food safety standard for Heathrow perishables centre

Kuehne+Nagel (K+N) has achieved the revised food safety management standard [ISO 22000:2018] at its Heathrow Perishables Handling Centre (PHC).
At 28,500 sq ft, the PHC is Heathrow’s largest on-airport chilled facility with 10 dock level doors and three ULD doors.
Richard Werran, group director, food EMEA, with business standards company BSI, said: “By combining the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle to manage business risk with HACCP [hazard analysis and critical control points] to identify, prevent and control food safety hazards, conformity to ISO 22000 helps organisations to reduce exposure to risk and improve safety, encouraging operational and organisational resilience.”
Brian Nealon, K+N UK quality, safety, health and environment<wbr />, director, said: “Our customers, and fundamentally, the end consumer, expect each and every single touchpoint of the food supply chain process to be managed and governed in accordance with the highest of standards. As the first organisation to achieve conformity to the revised ISO 22000:2018 standard globally from BSI, K+N is absolutely delighted to be leading from the front.”
