Vienna centre brings about a supply chain revolution for Engel

International machine manufacturer Engel has centralised and optimised its spare parts logistics with the help of logistics firm cargo-partner and its new facility close to Vienna Airport.
The operation is now based on cargo-partner’s new 12,250sq m iLogistics Center which provides 24,500 pallet spaces as well as a small parts store with 32,000 bins.
Engel Austria is an international manufacturer of injection moulding machines and parts-handling automation with headquarters in Schwertberg and was looking for a logistics provider that could help centralize and streamline its spare parts logistics.
With rapid business growth over the past year, Engel found that storage space at its three production facilities in Austria was no longer sufficient to production volumes so parts storage was shifted to  the iLogistics Center which now supplies customers worldwide.
The move also enabled later pick-up by transport providers as well as later order placement by clients while shipments arriving from different production facilities can now be consolidated more efficiently.
The iLogistics Center offers a comprehensive high-bay rack system including small parts shelves and wide and narrow aisle shelving. The facility also offers a high level of protection against temperature changes, humidity and dirt.
Engel’s vice president customer service division Harald Wegerer said: “The iLogistics Center came at the right time in exactly the right place for us. In addition to the fortunate location near Vienna Airport, the comprehensive technical equipment and fine-tuned processes were decisive factors for our choice.”
