AA expands international footprint

AMERICAN Airlines (AA) has opened a new freight facility in the Dominican Republic and started a new route to Japan.

The new facility is now operating at deposit no. 3 of the Las Americas International Airport. It is owned and run by national freight player Caribetrans.

In the US, American Airlines Cargo has launched a daily Boeing 777 service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Japan’s Tokyo International Airport at Haneda.

Haneda has recently developed cargo infrastructure thanks to ready investment. AA expects the Haneda service to attract high-value commodities, including pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, and auto parts.

AA intends to use the new service to move consignments of flowers from South America to Asia, as well as auto parts and construction equipment from Asia to destinations like Sao Paulo, Brazil.
