Airbus, Boeing see profit in 2011

SPEAKING at the Dubai Airshow, both Airbus and Boeing have, repeated their previous claims, made at Asian Aerospace Expo in Hong Kong, that 2010 will be the year of recovery.Airbus’s chief operating officer, John Leahy, said that carriers have stopped considering more cancellations or deferrals of their orders. Its parent company, EADS, said it is “cautiously envisaging an improvement of the economic and market conditions in the next months”. Boeing’s vice-president of marketing, Randy Tinseth (right), agreed predicting a return to profits in 2011.Tinseth added that he sees the main growth areas as being the Middle East and “China, India and other emerging markets with dynamic populations and growing incomes”.Airbus used the airshow to announce new orders from Yemenia Airways for 10 A320s and Ethiopia Airways for 12 A350s.
