Anniversary celebrations for Atlas

ATLAS Air Worldwide Holdings is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its flagship brand, Atlas Air.
William J Flynn, President and chief executive officer, AAWW, said: “In a remarkably short period of time, Atlas Air has defined an industry and seen it flourish. On this 15th anniversary of our flagship brand, we are reminded of the vision of the company’s founder, Michael Chowdry, who understood what potential air cargo customers would need to grow their businesses, and how to best serve them. By taking advantage of the company’s services, Atlas customers have grown with the world’s cargo markets, expanding their fleets with flexible and efficient outsource capacity.”
Atlas Air began operations in 1993 with one Boeing 747 contracted by China Airlines and developed its ACMI business model.
In just 15 years, Atlas has grown to serve customers in over 100 countries and 300 cities. As Atlas Air has grown, so too has parent company AAWW. Together with Polar Air Cargo, which AAWW acquired in 2001, AAWW has a fleet of 37 B747 freighter aircraft.
