Avient expects imminent delivery of MD-11F

Avient is to take delivery of another MD-11 freighter tomorrow. The aircraft, Avient’s second of the type, arrived at the carrier’s European hub – Liège Airport – on Tuesday 26 January. It will immediately be put to work flying aid to Haiti.“The acquisition of the MD-11Fs will allow for Avient to further build its scheduled route structure and this is a key area of development in 2010,” said Samantha Smith, Avient’s commercial director. “The MD-11F will also allow for Avient to enhance its overall service offering to the market through increased range, payload and operating efficiencies.”Avient’s first MD-11F tragically crashed during take-off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport last November, only a week after having been delivered and with the loss of three lives.
