BAE signs West Atlantic deal

BAE Systems has signed a three-year support contract with European cargo carrier West Atlantic Airlines.

The multi-million pound contract covers 44 ATP regional turboprop aircraft, which make up the bulk of its operational fleet. BAE will provide technical support services and a new and more comprehensive rate-per-flying-hour spares support programme.

“The intensely competitive European freight market and its complete reliance on the highest levels of service delivery, reliability and on-time performance means that West Atlantic has to have the reassurance of a comprehensive support programme to underpin its operations,” Tony Auld, managing director of West Atlantic, comments.

West Atlantic was created in 2008 through the merger of Sweden’s West Air Europe and the UK’s Atlantic Airlines. The airline provides logistics services for the mail and express parcel industry.
