Biman senior executives forced out

BANGLADESHI airline Biman has abruptly fired one director and forced its cargo general manager into early retirement.

The airline, infamously one of the most unreliable in the industry and in the past crippled by corruption, announced it was firing Aminul Haque, director of administration for the airline this week and making Syed Khwaza Jonayed, cargo general manager retire early. It gave no explanation for the decisions.

“The move was based on decisions made by the board,” Jamal Uddin Ahmed, chairman of the board of directors and managing director of Biman said enigmatically.

There has recently been dissent among the employee ranks over low pay, which the board has acquiesced to.
