Boeing military deal almost signed

A JOINT venture between Boeing and Alenia to assemble C-27J Spartan military transport planes for the US military is near agreement. This follows months of uncertainty and discussion over the details.

Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems unit and the Finmeccanica subsidiary will assemble the aircraft n Florida for the US Army and Air Force Joint Cargo Program.

“I think over the last couple of months we have come to an agreement on the path forward. We are not quite there, but we are getting very close,” Jim Albaugh, chief executive of Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems unit.

Alenia has threatened to press on alone should the deal fall through.
