Boeing’s bumper year despite cancellations

BOEING ended 2012 with 4,373 cancelled aircraft orders – the most in the company’s history. 
But the planemaker also secured its second-largest number of aircraft net commercial orders – 1,203 – in the same year.
“The company delivered 601 airplanes, the most since 1999,” a spokesman states.  
The B737 proved the most popular model generating 1,124 net orders. Boeing also delivered 11 B787 Dreamliners to seven customers last month.
“As we look ahead to 2013, we’re focused on meeting our customer commitments by increasing production rates and delivering high-quality, reliable products and services,” enthuses president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Ray Conner. 
“We will also transition the B787-9 into production and flight test and work closely with customers who contribute so much to our success to continue defining the B787-10X and B777X.”
