Cargoitalia cuts Atlanta flights

CARGOITALIA has discontinued its twice-weekly Atlanta (US) route following poor volumes.

The Italian carrier is hopeful it will resume the service once business picks up, but following May’s four per cent airfreight market decline the Atlanta run remains uncertain.

Cargoitalia launched its service to Atlanta on 3 February and only lasted until 18 April. The airline continues its links with the US with flights from Milan (Italy) to New York and Chicago.

In related news, Cargoitalia has appointed Richard Mohler to the newly-created position of manager of network planning and revenue management. Mohler will be responsible for the evaluation of new routes, and then setting and achieving their revenue targets.

Meanwhile, the cargo airline has promoted Stefano Barone as its first chief representative for China and the Far East; he was previously Industry Affairs Manager. Barone’s new post, based in Shanghai, involves supervising all Cargoitalia operations in the region.
