Çelebi bids for Indira Ghandi airport services

ÇELEBI Ground Handling has submitted bids for two Indian airport tenders.

The Turkish company bid to upgrade, modernise, finance and operate the existing cargo terminal of the  in New Delhi for 25 years, as well as to construct and finance a new cargo terminal at the same airport.

The airport is the second biggest airport in India in terms of cargo traffic. 430,000 tons of cargo were processed there in 2008, an increase of 10 per cent every year since 2001.

Ground-handling services at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport – the largest hub in India – were earlier awarded to a CGH/NAS India consortiumin which Çelebi controls a majority stake, for 10 years.
