Changi growth signals better times

The recovery during the peak season for airfreight from Asia has been confirmed by much improved growth figures from Singapore Changi airport.
Exports showed a year-on-year growth for the second month running as Christmas demand in North America and Europe boosted trade.Airfreight movements rose 4.6 per cent to 153,000 tonnes in November, a healthy growth following almost a year of decline.
October had demonstrated the first growth of 2009 with a two per cent rise year-on-year to 154,000 tonnes of cargo handled.In November, aircraft movements increased 7.6 per cent to 20,661 as some airlines reinstated routes and boosted frequencies.
