DHL accepts 767 freighters

DHL Express has taken delivery of six Boeing 767-300ER freighters to replace the MD-11F it shares with Lufthansa Cargo. The aircraft will used on a variety of routes but mainly between the Leipzig (Germany) and New York (US) and East Midlands (UK) and Cincinnati/New York.
Charlie Dobbie, executive vice president, express network operations and aviation, said: “By introducing the Boeing 767ERF into our own DHL air fleet we are following our smart technology approach, which aims at achieving high efficiency gains through the use of the most modern technology available, wherever possible.”
According to DHL estimates, the new aircraft will save the company 3,500 to 4,000 litres of fuel on the average EU-US-EU trip.
