e-freight goes live in Austria

AUSTRIA is the latest country to implement the International Air Transport Association (IATA) e-freight programme. Led by Emirates SkyCargo and Lufthansa Cargo at Vienna Airport also included DHL Global Forwarding, Kühne & Nagel, Schenker, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the local customs authorities.

e-freight eliminates the need to send 20 core paper documents with air cargo shipments, thus streamlining processes, improving speed and reliability and cutting costs.

This makes Austria the 28th country to introduce e-freight. IATA aims to have 44 countries using it by the end of this year, representing more than 80 per cent of global airfreight volumes.
