EC sends Panalpina pricefixing findings – UPDATE

THE European Commission (EC) has sent Swiss logistics company Panalpina preliminary findings of its ongoing anti-competition investigation.

The company, along with EGL (now CEVA), Expeditors, Kuehne + Nagel, Panalpina, DB Schenker and UTi Worldwide are being investigated by the EC, the Swiss Competition Commission and the US Department of Justice into alleged fuel surcharge pricefixing.

A spokesman for DB Schenker confirmed to Air Cargo News that the company had also received the same document and that a statement would be released soon.

None of the other companies could confirm or deny whether they had also received similar documents.

Panalpina said in a statement: “Panalpina will closely examine the Commission’s preliminary findings and will respond in due time.”

It added: “It is Panalpina’s policy to conduct its business in full compliance with all applicable laws in all jurisdictions in which it conducts its business.”

UPDATE: DHL, DSV, Expeditors International, Kuehne+Nagel and UPS have all confirmed that they too have received the findings.
