Emerging markets tempt DSV

LOGISTICS giant DSV is to move decisively into emerging markets with the acquisition of the Swift Freight Group.
Dubai based Swift Freight is a regional freight forwarder, with 36 offices spread across 15 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
The purchase agreement includes ownership of the companies in the UAE, China and India and a third of the companies in Africa.
DSV is expected to assume full ownership of the African entities over time.
Jens Bjorn Andersen DSV group boss says: “The acquisition of Swift Freight is an important step in DSV´s efforts to increase our presence in emerging markets and we see great prospects for future growth in Africa and the Middle East.”
Swift Freight chief Warren Erfmann will continue as regional head of all DSV Swift activities in Africa.
"DSV´s global network and Swift Freight’s reach and expertise in Africa is a perfect match and creates a strong platform for future growth" adds Erfmann.
In the 12 African countries where Swift is represented, the operational name will be “DSV Swift”.
