Emirates’ Scandinavian cargo boost

CAPITALISING on the success of its thrice-weekly service to Gothenburg (Sweden), Emirates SkyCargo will be offering an extra 19 tonnes of freight capacity on a new daily passenger flight from Dubai (UAE) to Stockholm.
The service – commencing on 4 September with a Boeing 777-300ER – is expected to capitalise on the strong, historical bilateral trade links between the two nations, which was worth more than US$896m in 2012, an increase of 4.3 per cent compared with 2011, the flag carrier of UAE states.
“We have been closely evaluating options for further expansion in Scandinavia. Sweden, with its stable and growing economy, is the perfect location to extend our regional presence,” enthuses Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline.
Pharmaceuticals, electronic and construction equipment, perishables and textiles are expected to be among the most popular shipments on the new route, according to a company spokesperson.
