Emirates selects Kiev for first Ukraine service

EMIRATES, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, plans to strengthen its position in eastern Europe with a new service to the Ukraine.
The flagship carrier of Dubai will operate daily flights to Kyiv Boryspil International Airport in Kiev, using an Airbus A340-500 providing 15 tonnes of bellyhold capacity from 16 January 2014.
“We see strong potential in the Ukraine through its agribusiness, heavy machinery industries, technology, and tourism. Kiev will be our 35th passenger route in Europe and Emirates’ customers in the Ukraine will be able to fly non-stop to our Dubai hub and conveniently connect onwards to destinations in the Indian Ocean Islands and Asia, in addition to our extensive Australian network courtesy of our partnership with Qantas,” enthuses Hubert Frach, divisional senior vice-president of commercial operations West.
Key exports include sunflower oil, aircraft spare and ship spare parts, along with heavy industry machinery equipment.
