FedEx opens up Asian route

FEDEX Express’ newly-acquired 777F will focus on serving India and the Middle East.

“We are getting heavy cargo demand from northern India in businesses like automobile, fashion, gems and jewellery, [and] hi-tech goods,” FedEx Express India vice-president (Operations), Kenneth Koval, said. “The businesses in this market are witnessing a double-digit growth, for which there is a demand for increased cargo space.”

The company has acquired 12 777Fs and by the end of 2019 fiscal, the number would increase to 44. This would help FedEx reduce fuel emissions by 20 per cent by the year 2020.

The company will be operating 15 flights a week on the US-Dubai-Delhi-Paris-US routes.

In related news, FedEx plans to establish a deep-freeze shipping recharge point in Delhi (India) for shipping temperature-sensitive products around the world.

“We are in talks [to use] the CryoPort Express Dry Shipper for shipping temperature-sensitive products around the world, especially healthcare products,” Rakesh Shalia, managing director (Marketing) Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, said.

While in the US, FedEx Trade Networks opened its new Chicago gateway office providing expanded service offerings to customers, including a full portfolio of freight forwarding, customs brokerage and distribution solutions.
