Forward Air post $3.4 million profit

US-based airfreight logistics company, Forward Air, has posted a profit for the first quarter of 2010. The company reports that improved freight volumes allowed it to make a US$3.4 million profit, an increase of $6.5 million from its $3.1 million loss in the same period last year.

Operating revenue for the 2010 first quarter rose 10.8 percent to $107 million, up from $96.6 million a year ago.

Forward Air chairman, president and chief executive officer, Bruce Campbell, said the company started seeing increased freight volume in the fourth quarter of 2009.

“These continuing trends provide further encouragement that we have entered a period of sustained recovery.”
