Frankfurt Airport’s August freight fall

FRANKFURT Airport’s (FRA) airfreight volumes fell by 4.1 per cent to 165,406 tonnes year-on-year in August this year.
“Once again, this can be attributed to the uncertain development of the world economy,” explains a spokesperson for its German owners Fraport.
In contrast, the airport’s passenger numbers rose by 4.6 per cent, reaching nearly 5.6 million compared with the same period in 2011.
“FRA achieved a new August monthly record despite the eight-hour strike by Lufthansa cabin crew,” the company states.
