Frankfurt’s April high

FRAPORT, the operator of Frankfurt International Airport (Germany), saw a 13.4 per cent increase in cargo to 212,947 metric tonnes in April, compared with the 2010 period.

Frankfurt Airport’s airfreight volume for April totalled 187,381 tonnes, an increase of 12.7 per cent compared with the prior-year period. April aircraft movements climbed by 25.4 per cent to nearly 40,000 takeoffs and landings.

In related news, cargo handling operator Çelebi has opened a new facility in Cargo City South at Frankfurt Airport, offering cargo warehousing and documentary services.

The warehouse offers 16,000m2 (excluding the automatic pallet-handling system, which can store 280 main-deck pallets) giving it a capacity to handle up to 240,000 tonnes a year.
