Getting the Lion’s share of the belly

BOEING has signed the largest ever commercial aircraft order with Indonesia-based Lion Air, the country’s largest airline by passenger volume.

Lion will purchase 201 737 MAXs and 29 Next-Generation 737-900ERs worth US$22.4 billion.

While the order does not include freighters, the sheer volume of belly space for cargo shipments in the Southeast Asia region will be considerable.

The agreement also includes purchase rights for an additional 150 aircraft.
