IAG Cargo launches B787 Austin, Texas route

BUSINESSES in Austin, Texas are benefiting from the launch of a new air-conditioned B787 IAG Cargo belly-hold connection with London Heathrow.
The US city’s first ever regular transatlantic service, gives a direct air link between the hi-tech Texan hub and Europe.
IAG Cargo has launched the service in part to help support the growing technology and pharma industries in Austin’s ‘Silicon Hills’.
The aircraft has been optimised for bellyhold cargo with air conditioning in the forward hold, making it perfect for temperature-sensitive goods, reveals Steve Gunning IAG Cargo’s chief executive.
“Texas is increasingly proving to be a key market for us, so it makes complete sense to open this new service to Austin. Alongside our existing operations in Dallas and Houston, this route gives businesses in the region a valuable connection to global markets through our Heathrow hub,” he adds.
The flights will become daily from 3 May.
The new route will also benefit transhipment traffic from Mexico.
