Israeli cargo airline’s Euro doubts

ISRAEL’S CAL Cargo Air Lines is considering the benefits of becoming a European-registered company.
The all-cargo carrier is worried about increased competition from European carriers following Israel’s recent decision to sign an open skies treaty with the EU.
The treaty will come into effect in stages from this year until the middle of 2017, when there will then be unrestricted air travel between the two for all passenger and cargo airlines.
CAL is based at Ben Gurion International Airport, but has a hub at Liège Airport (Belgium).
It carries over 100,000 metric tonnes of cargo annually.
